Deer Park today...

This is the man made lake at the rear of the resort behind the recreation center. The hotel was located beyond the condo buildings at the far left of this photograph. Note the "shark" in the center of the lake ;)

From the Library of Congress website...

The Deer Park in it's early days was managed by Freeman C. Willis, and his stepfather Collins M. Buchanan.

Mr. Willis managed many hotels in the White Mountains during his career, this is his account...

Often, when I look at this image, I wonder if he could possibly be one of the men standing on the veranda...

The Deer Park Hotel and Railroad Station.

The Deer Park Hotel and railroad station. In this picture you can see people waiting for the next train and also a Concord Stagecoach waiting to pick up hotel guests. The hotel is in the background.

The Deer Park Hotel in North Woodstock, New Hampshire was built in 1886-87. The hotel survived until June of 1952, when it was destroyed by fire. The site is now occupied by a condominium resort that retains the name. Our family owns a vacation home there, and it's a special place indeed. I started this blog as an online place to share it's history and will be adding info as I find it. Thanks for stopping by and if you like this blog, please leave a comment and become a follower. Thanks!
